OC intstalls to the trade are $75 hrly with a $150 site visit minimum (2 hour minimum charge even if only onsite to hang one piece). Installs outside of Orange County are by bid basis or hourly charge portal to portal.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Getting a feel for the space and the clients tastes and sensibilities are first on the list.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Trained by Gallery Services and formerly employed as an installer with Cadogan Tate & Peters Custom Framing.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

My background in antiques / artwork sales & design led me to working for a large art installation firm in L.A.

What types of customers have you worked with?

Home owners, interior designers, gallery owners, artists, retail shops, bars & restaurants, commercial / office, and even religious (monastery).

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Hanging a huge 16th century oil in a monastery in Silverado Canyon.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Hire a dedicated art installer to handle your artwork. Handymen are great for handy work, but they often do not understand art installation. Also, we ONLY use art hardware to hang art. This means D Rings, brass hooks, cleats, pins, or art screws. We do not use nails or plain drywall screws. Lastly, while most handymen can hang solo pictures, you’ll find that they struggle with exact placement, multi picture grids / gallery walls, hanging 60 on center, hanging on D-rings (without wire), installing pieces with stand-offs, installing security hardware, etc.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

The first set of questions I ask clients are usually – How many pieces do you have? Are any of them are going in stairwells? Will anything be hung over over 8 ft high? Will any of the pieces require 2 men to lift? Will anything be hung in brick, tile, concrete, etc?
