Triple Crown Tavern

A “New Tavern” theme bar with elements of Turf Club meets Yacht Salon.

SOME NOTABLES

Triple Crown Tavern was a full gut project. The  mini tavern design concept we came up with also incorporates elements of  Yacht Salon and Turf Club (places you entertain on a boat and at a race track respectively). For a color palette we went with mixed metals (to allude to the trophy’s, loving cups, and medals gained in sport) then balanced it out with dark woods, rich blues, and deep greens.

The bar top we selected was a beautiful emerald green uartzite slab which we broke up with solid brass inlays. The face got all new American walnut, and the trim is all Italian with a hammered champagne gold finish. We went with a real tin tile back bar in a custom hammered black. For the opposing wall we went with a pale plue full wall wood wainscoting, and the back wall was finished off in a satin black brick. ( Looks great and keeps the noise IN! ). Floors are a charred brown (almost black) thin plank oak.

The furnishings include antique brass shade & milk glass pendant lights (a barn find from back east.) The wall sconces are vintage Italian made bulkhead ships lights from a boatyard in the Pacific Northwest – with custom brass “jut out” raceways designed by us. Bar stools were existing but refinished and covered in recycled leather. Butcher block bistro tables and mosaic tile outdoor tables made in house by us. The ruby glass “exit” sign was salvaged from 1940’s theater. Vintage 200 bottle wine cabinet came from a local estate and was given fresh guts and a new dark walnut finish. Lots of small brass elements around.
